Classic Fortnite Weapon Seems To Be Returning In Season 3

Attentive Fortnite fans have noticed that the Combat Shotgun seems to appear in the newest trailer for Chapter 5 Season 3, which launches on May 24. Although the major update is still a couple of days away, dataminers and official teases have already hinted at what Fortnite fans can expect.

Epic Games recently posted a new trailer that revealed some of Season 3’s Fallout-inspired content, most notably the T-60 Power Armor that will presumably offer significant advantages once obtained. Other Fallout items spotted in the short teaser include what appears to be a Laser Rifle and Nuka Cola, with the latter offering movement buffs similar to this season’s Golden Banana. However, the teaser revealed more than just Fallout-themed content.

Twitter user Hypex pointed out that one of the Power Armor users in the trailer appears to be holding a Combat Shotgun, which hasn’t been seen in Fortnite since Season OG last year. While Epic hasn’t explicitly confirmed that the shotgun is returning, a zoomed-in image posted by the Twitter user seems to heavily suggest that it will. In case some are unaware, the Combat Shotgun is semi-automatic and features a faster fire rate than most other shotguns. Its strength lies in its longer range and tight spread, making it a strong option for close-range engagements that are a bit more spaced out than usual. The Combat Shotgun has been a fan-favorite option for years, as it won a player vote back in 2021 to be unvaulted. If the weapon is in fact returning, it’s unclear whether it will see some balance adjustments come Season 3’s launch.

Season 3 is set to add plenty more content other than new weapons, with dataminers recently claiming that vehicle mods are coming to Fortnite, which seem to behave like gun attachments but for cars. Some of the leaked vehicle modifications coming next season include off-road tires, boosters, bumpers, and more.

Vehicles seem to play a central role in Season 3, as a new Fortnite car seems to have already been revealed. The vehicle in question takes on a steampunk look and seems to have good offroading capabilities, two attributes that definitely match up with Season 3’s supposed theme.

The theme of next season seems inspired by a Mad Max-like aesthetic, with Fortnite’s map ready to be engulfed by a sandstorm that recently appeared along its edge. According to dataminers, multiple POIs will receive sandy makeovers and a massive boat will also appear, either along the shore or beached on the map.
